Primary 3 returned to Victorian times on a recent trip to the Palace Stables in Armagh. During their visit they were invited into a Victorian Drawing Room to help the butler sort out boxes he was clearing from the attic; each box contained a range of historical objects and the children had fun discovering what each object was.
Later in the day they were able to explore the rest of the Palace Stables grounds to visit, a school room, the family church, smokehouse, ice house, kitchen and 'whistling tunnel'. In the school room the pupils swapped word processors for writing on slates and, while visiting the kitchen, were again able to compare past and present.
The trip ended with all the pupils acting in a play about Victorian Times; and, of course, a return to 2011!
