Poetry

Read the poem 'Uncle John's Paintbox' and complete the activities that follow (the weather poem is optional).

When you are writing your own 'rainbow' poem, remember the language features that you have learned so far:

-alliteration

-interesting adjectives

-synonyms (no boring words)

-onomatopoeia

-similes and metaphors

A few of my favourite phrases from the poem are 'blood oozing', 'flames dancing', 'coins gleaming' and 'teeth glistening'. These words sound marvellous, are very descriptive and paint a vivid picture in my mind.

So... what do the colours of the rainbow mean to you? What do they represent? Express your thoughts through your own 'Rainbow Poem'.

I would love to read your completed Rainbow Poem!
